Pulitzer Prize-winning drama gets local staging

Tennessee Williams’ classic “A Streetcar Named Desire” will be presented by Red Curtain Productions January 27 through February 12, 2017 in Marysville. Williams' tale of death, desire and desperation comes to life at the Red Curtain Arts Center, located at 9315 State Avenue #J in Marysville.

Blanche and Stella DuBois grew up in the privileged South of the early 20th Century. Having lost the family's entire fortune and property, Blanche finds herself crawling to her now-married younger sister's home in the slums of New Orleans. Clutching onto the life she once knew and unable to come to terms with the reality of her situation, Blanche slowly descends into madness as her life is stripped away to reveal the labyrinth of lies underneath her carefully constructed surface.

The classic drama, directed by Scott B. Randall, is filled with tension and intrigue, exploring the tenuous hold on self-deception and sanity that finally gives way to the truth. Because of its emotional power and adult situations, it is not recommended for children.

The exceptional cast includes Snohomish County actors from all walks of life. Tackling the lead roles are Hailey Thomas as Stella, Erin Carter as Blanche, and Brandon Borrmann as Stanley.

Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Red Curtain Arts Center - in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the EvCC cosmetology school. Ticket prices are $17 for adults and $14 for seniors (62+), students and military personnel. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2734706 or at the RCF box office by phone (360.322.7402) or in-person Tuesday-Saturday from 2-6 p.m. For more information, visit www.redcurtainfoundation.org or see the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RedCurtainFoundation.
