Prep Sports Weekly 02/01/18. We talk about Archbishop Murphy joining the Wesco 3A. Then live in-studio with two-time state wrestling champion (and national champion) Mason Phillips of Stanwood along with his club coach Andy Cook. We also learn more about the Cascade cheerleaders winning a state championship with coach Trish Roberts and athletes Aislinn Hall and Lindsey Bates.
Mason Phillips is our Russell & Hill Male Athlete of the Month; Lindsey Bates has been selected as our Russell & Hill Female Athlete of the Month.
Here are the Russell & Hill Student Athletes of the month for January 2018. Mason Phillips is a two-time defending state champion, and two-time defending national Greco-Roman wrestler from Stanwood High School. He will be trying for a three-peat at this month’sMat Classic at the Tacoma Dome. Mason will continue his wrestling career at The University of North Carolina in the fall. Lindsey Bates is a member of the Cascade High School Cheer Squad; they won the state championship at last month’s WIAA event at Battle Ground HS in the Class 4A Co-Ed division. Lindsey is also hoping to continue her cheerleading at the collegiate level.
