Liz Vogeli Appointed to National League of Cities’ Public Safety and Crime Prevention

Everett City Councilmember Liz Vogeli has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2019 Public Safety and Crime Prevention committee. The committee is in place to develop the National League of Cities policies on issues tied to crime and substance abuse to domestic terrorism. The president of the NLC, Karen Freeman-Wilson (also the Mayor of Gary Indiana) made the announcement.

Our federal advocacy committees help ensure that policymakers in Washington know what's happening on the ground in our communities – and what is needed from our federal partners,” said Freeman-Wilson.

“I am proud to have Liz Vogeli join NLC's Public Safety and Crime Prevention committee on behalf of her residents. Together with a team of local leaders from around the country, we will work to solve the most pressing challenges facing our communities.”

In a press release from the City, Vogeli is quoted as saying, “I am honored to have been selected to be part of this important committee. Everett, like many cities across the country, is noticing the positive outcomes that result from implementing evidence-based policy initiatives. I look forward to sharing the progress that has already been made by Mayor Franklin and my fellow councilmembers, and I am excited to work with my new counterparts from across the United States to help shape meaningful policies that will have a direct impact in our hometown and in communities nationwide.”

As part of the committee, Vogeli will add her voice to shaping the National League of Cities’ policies, and will “advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the administration and at home.”

Vogeli is relatively new to the Council, and ran her campaign in the end of 2018 on Public Safety and Law Enforcement, Safe and Affordable Housing, and the budget.
