It's that time of year again! From the City of Everett, here's the schedule for the Monte Cristo Awards Ceremony and reception this year.

Community members are invited to celebrate neighborhood pride and honor local homeowners and business owners for their efforts to beautify Everett at the 24th annual Monte Cristo awards ceremony. The ceremony will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Historic Everett Theatre.

“This is an excellent opportunity to recognize a select group of our community members for their impressive efforts to make their homes and businesses attractive and to keep them well maintained,” said Mayor Cassie Franklin. “I’m honored to help recognize the award winners alongside the Council of Neighborhoods representatives and other members of our City team.”

Awards are given in four categories: neighborhood-friendly business, pride of the neighborhood, rejuvenation and transformation, and the new green gardening category, which recognizes beautiful properties that have environmentally friendly landscaping. A committee of Everett residents made the final award selections.

The public celebration will be held Oct. 25 at the Historic Everett Theatre. The reception starts at 6 p.m. followed by the awards presentation at 7 p.m. The event will feature photo presentations of the winning homes and businesses, and winners will receive a plaque to display on the exterior of their home or business.

During the event, Mayor Franklin will also present the coveted Marian Krell Award, which recognizes superior care on an ongoing basis by a prior Monte Cristo award winner.

The 24th annual Monte Cristo Awards ceremony is presented by the Everett Council of Neighborhoods and community volunteers and donors, with coordinated support from the City of Everett Office of Neighborhoods. For more information, visit www.everettwa.gov/montecristo.
