Here's something I think we can all agree on. In this part of the world, it can be really dark, cold and rainy. Since it's been a long time that we've had a bowl of pho soup (pronounced "fuh"), we scurried out of our condo in between squalls to make a six block walk to Pho on Broadway in Everett and get a steaming hot bowl.

In 2012, the Navy announced that they planned to move three destroyers to Everett within the decade. On Monday, November 21st, they will have fulfilled the promise. These are homeport changes that are put into action in order for the military to maintain a “maritime force that defends and protects the US national security interests”.

Eric Hicks, who is currently serving as an assistant chief and fire marshal within Everett Fire, will be sworn in on January 11, 2017 in the wake of the retirement of current Chief Murray Gordon. He takes on this new position with 22 years of firefighting experience under his belt, including but not limited to serving Everett as a fire inspector, fire fighter and investigator as well as his current position.

The young couple across the table from us anxiously waited for their breakfast to be served.The woman said, "My dad used to take us here for breakfast almost every month when we were growing up." We were in the makeshift cafeteria of Normanna Lodge #3 on Oakes Avenue in downtown Everett, home of the local Sons of Norway, the largest Norwegian-American organization in the world.
