Street Scramble to Explore Downtown Everett

Everett, WA – Street Scramble, an urban adventure running series managed by Seattle event company MerGeo, will host an event at 10:00 a.m. July 23, starting from The Everett Family YMCA at 2720 Rockefeller Ave, Everett, WA 98201.

At Street Scramble, teams of between one and five people are given a map with checkpoints circled on it and a time limit to plan their route and then visit as many of these checkpoints as they can. Checkpoints have assorted point values and participants may find as many as they desire in whichever order they choose. To prove its visit to a checkpoint, a team answers a multiple choice question on an answer sheet provided prior to the start.

Once the route planning period ends, the race clock begins and participants set off into the neighborhood to find checkpoints until they return to the start location before the time limit, or risk losing points for every minute they are late. Awards are given in eleven categories, including three for family teams and a corporate team category.

The event attracts a wide range of participants, from competitive runners to families pushing strollers, and is open to the public. Participants may preregister online until Friday, July 21, or may sign up onsite on the day of the event.

“Everett’s parks, public art, lively downtown, and beautiful waterfront provide many interesting and fun checkpoint locations,” said course designer Eric Bone. “I’m very excited to be returning to Everett this year."
