Our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for February 2024 is senior Karianne Baldwin of the Glacier Peak Grizzlies Girls Wrestling team. Karianne claimed her third consecutive state championship at the Washington State Mat Classic Wrestling Tournament held at the Tacoma Dome. With her third career title, Baldwin ties Marysville-Pilchuck’s Alivia White with three state championships from Snohomish County. Karianne defeated Chief Sealth senior Sophia Anderson 5-2 in the 125-pound bracket. She is also a two-time academic state champion with a 4.0 GPA. Baldwin went a perfect 50-0 in her senior year. Congratulations to our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month for February 2024; from the Lake Stevens High School Swim & Dive team, junior, Camden Blevins-Mohr. Camden won a pair of 4A state swimming individual championships and anchored a Viking relay team to another state title at the 2024 Washington State Swim & Dive Championships held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Congratulations to our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for January 2024; senior guard for the Arlington Eagles Girls Basketball team, Samara Morrow. Samara averaged 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals per game for the Eagles. Leading Arlington to the Wesco 3A regular season title and a Class 3A State Tournament appearance at The Tacoma Dome, bringing home a fourth-place state trophy. Our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month for January 2024 is senior guard Jaxon Dubiel of the Mountlake Terrace Hawks Boys Basketball team. Dubiel averaged 21.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.3 steals and two assists per game while anchoring Mountlake Terrace to 24-4 record and unbeaten run to a Wesco 3A title. Dubiel broke school records in all-time field goals in a season (204), single-season points (596), single-game points (40) and single-season steals (92).
