6 Month Anniversary Protest Planned for Dustyn Hunt-Bagby
The Coalition for Justice for Dustin will be staging a planned protest August 26, beginning at noon, outside of the Snohomish County Courthouse on
Rockefeller Ave. The purpose of the protest is to compel the police to make an arrest after six months of investigation.
According to the Coalition and the unofficial statement of the eyewitness, Lauryn Heller, Dustyn was in her bedroom, stowed under her bed when her
father, Charles Heller, got to the home in Silver Lake nearing 11 pm the night of the 25th. They had been watching Harry Potter.
Per Lauryn’s video statement posted on their Facebook page, Dustyn was discovered and was fatally shot in the chest while unarmed and also trying to
exit the residence by Charles Heller, who claimed self-defense.
In March, Courtney O’Keefe of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office confirmed those details to the Kitsap Sun.
She went on to say that Charles Heller was detained but not arrested, and that an investigation was ongoing into Heller’s claim of self-defense.
Around the time of the shooting, #JusticeforNabii began trending across social media as friends and family shared their shock and pain. At the time
of his death, Dustyn was a budding local music artist known as Prettyboi Nabii and twenty-one years old.
