Just after 10 am this morning, a large multi-agency police response was dispatched to the Americas Best Value Inn off 196th St SW.

Lynnwood Police say a man called 911 from inside one of the hotel rooms and told dispatchers there was an “officer down.” The man later made statements to indicate that he may have shot an officer.

“All surrounding agencies responded to the “officer down” call. That included Everett, Edmonds, Snohomish County, Mukilteo, Arlington, Mountlake Terrace and the South County Fire District,” said Joanna Small, Public Affairs and Communications Manager for the Lynnwood Police Department.

Local agencies surrounded the hotel while Lynnwood Police worked to determine if there was actually an officer injured and if the man who called the police was armed.

Lynnwood Police announced that the man eventually exited the hotel and cooperated with law enforcement. Ultimately, no officer was shot, and the man was unarmed.

Police believe the man was suffering from mental health and/or drug-related crisis and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
