Alaska Airlines, which just recently began passenger flight service out of Paine Field, announced today that due to customer demand they will begin offering
daily non-stop flights to Palm Springs.
Beginning November 5th, the option to fly directly to the sunny sands of Palm Springs will be available. This is their ninth destination offered
from PAE.
Paine Field passenger service for Alaska has been a big hit, providing over 160,000 flights since PAE opened their doors for commercial passengers.
“Hands down, Palm Springs was number one on our guests’ wish list for the next destination from Paine Field,” said Noelle Fredrickson, general manager
of network planning and strategy for Alaska Airlines in a press release dated today. “After three months of flying at Everett, we thought this was
a good time to make adjustments to improve the flying experiences for our guests. And hopefully make some people really happy.”
In order to accommodate the new schedule, the daily flights to Portland will be reduced by one per day.
Also, Alaska is planning on a second round-trip flight to Phoenix, beginning August 26th, resulting in another schedule adjustment to Los Angeles.
“We’re optimizing our flight schedule to improve our operations,” said Fredrickson. “By flying three roundtrips a day instead of four to Portland and L.A.,
we can better provide the key flight times preferred by our business travelers and allow for better connection windows.” Ultimately, the changes will
allow the flights to Phoenix and Palm Springs without compromising the limit of eighteen per day currently allotted.
Alaska Air reminded us at the end of the press release that “All Alaska flights at Paine Field are operated by Horizon Air with jet service using the Embraer
175 aircraft, which features a three-class cabin. From Paine Field, guests can currently fly to eight destinations: Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Orange
County, California; Phoenix; Portland, Oregon; San Diego; San Francisco; and San Jose, California.”
Basically, grab your flip flops and sun block on the way from our backyard to your vacation.
