“Concert for Recoverywill feature artists who have been a part of the local community for their whole lives, Cindi Pedersen, administrator at the Everett Unity Center said. Their roots run deep with some of the artists grandparents being a part of the church.

“They are all powerful singers and songwriters and have a wide range of talent,Pederson said,It will be so fun to have them all showcased together in one place.”

Performers include Savannah Woods, who was a semi-finalist on The Voice. Ireland WoodsSteve MasonJosh Uttech, Terri Anson, and the Unity Family Band are also performing.

The concert will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Everett Unity Center, 3231 Colby Ave.

The goal of the event is to bring awareness to Recovery Café and the Unity Center for Positive Living through a fun, uplifting event, Pedersen said.

The Unity Center building has been in Everett since 1910. Unity Center took over the lease from Christian Science in the early 2000s after Unity’s previous building on Pacific and Lombard burnt down. For a year, Unity held Sunday worship at the Historic Everett Theatre.

Unity is a non-denominational church and is apositive practical approach to spirituality in today’s modern times with the goal to find connection with the spiritual self,Pedersen said.

The mission of the Everett Recovery Café, a part of the Recovery Cafe Network, isto be a safe, healing community for individuals in recovery from the trauma of homelessness, addiction and mental health challenges…according to their website.

The Café holds weekly recovery circles, job training, resources and more. The Cafe offers a powerful sacred space for people to be their most authentic selves, Pedersen said.

The goals of Unity Center and the Café are very similar, helping build a healthy and spiritual lifestyle for everyone in the community, Pedersen said.

“Being in downtown we clearly see the challenges that our community is struggling with,Pedersen said.

Pedersen encourages the Everett community to come and check out a different way of being with people in a faith community and to learn about the programs at the Recovery Café.

This is a donate what you can event, Pedersen said and will be tripled with the help of a local funding grant. You can learn more about the event and donate on the Unity for Positive Living website.
