May is National Bike Month! The City of Everett is hosting events throughout the month and sharing resources to promote bicycle safety and encourage bicycling as a convenient way to get around our community.
There are several ways to participate in National Bike Month:
Bike Everywhere Day
Celebrate Bike Everywhere Day with Everett Transit on Friday, May 17 from 8 a.m. to noon at Everett Station. Join us at this free and fun community event to enjoy from all-things biking including safety checks, small repairs, games and prizes! Whether your ride is part of your commute or a weekend jaunt with the family, this event has something for everyone.
Learn how to be a bicycle-friendly driver
This #BikeMonth, learn how to be a bicycle-friendly driver by completing this interactive online course, “Sharing the road with bicyclists: A bicycle-friendly driver program.” Upon course completion, visit the self-assessment link to earn a free Bicycle-Friendly Driver sticker.
Explore Everett on an interactive bike tour
Get reacquainted with a familiar area of the city or explore a new one! Everett has six interactive bike tours, with routes designed for riders at different levels of comfortability. To find the perfect tour, visit: everettwa.gov/biketours.

Get free help with bike repairs!
Take part in Bike Repair Clinics with Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop at the library’s Evergreen Way location beginning June 11. Additional Clinics will be held on the second Tuesday every month through October 8. Check out more event details at epls.org.
Kids to Parks Day
Saturday May 18th is National Kids to Parks Day. Kids of all ages should get outside and visit their local parks. Whether you want to play on a playground, visit nature, or play some sports, there’s a park for you. To find the right park for your visit, visit our Parks website.
Bike to your favorite park – or check out a new one!
Make it an adventure and follow a bike route to a favorite park, or a ‘new to you’ park. The Parks and Trails map includes not only the bike routes, but also the bus stops to get you where you want to go.
Learn more about new connections coming in 2024
The City of Everett will also promote safer and more comfortable riding on its bicycle network with several transportation projects.
The Citywide bicycle wayfinding project will help cyclists navigate Everett’s bikeways, improving connectivity and encouraging ridership. Learn more: everettwa.gov/activewayfinding.
The West Casino Road bike lanes project will widen existing bike lanes to maximum available width, and a buffer will be added to provide a safer and more comfortable experience for cyclists. Learn more: everettwa.gov/activewestcasino.
The Fulton Street bicycle and pedestrian corridor project will build bicycle facilities on both sides of Fulton Street between Pacific Avenue and California Street. Learn more: everettwa.gov/activefulton.
The automated traffic safety camera program will increase safety at intersections across Everett, benefiting all users. Learn more: everettwa.gov/photoenforcement.
Everett’s bicycle program
In December of 2021, Everett was recognized as a bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, an acknowledgment of the work that has been done to make Everett a safer, more accessible community for cyclists of all abilities and encourage healthy and sustainable transportation choices.
