Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOAWW) Farmer Frog, and the Everett Mall have partnered up to host a drive-through food pantry for two Fridays in November. The first Friday will be tomorrow,  Friday, Nov. 13, and the second Friday will be Nov. 20. The Contactless food pantry will be from 2 pm – 5 pm in the South corner parking lot near the Regal Everett Cinemas at the Everett Mall located at 1402 SE Everett Mall Way, Everett, WA, 98208.

During an interview with Cory Armstrong-Hoss, Director of Communications and Marketing for VOAWW, Hoss explained how food insecurity is on the rise in the Everett area. “The need seems to be increasing dramatically,” said Hoss. “In the first week of October, we served 231 households just through the Everett Food Bank.” Hoss continued by stating that during the last week of October, the same Everett Food Bank served 396 households. “We went from 231 to 396 and we are seeing more need at our other food banks as well,” said Hoss.

With the help from over 625 volunteers, VOAWW serves 200,000 families each year, 10,000 people each month, and prevents around 216 evictions each month, according to their website. Children are at the forefront of the need, 64% of their Crisis Care Chats are made by children under the age of 18.

According to Hoss, the best way to help feed the community is through Monetary donations. If you’d like to donate food, please drop it off at the Everett Food Bank located at 1230 Broadway, Everett, WA 98201.

Hoss believes the Everett Mall location will see between 100-200 households if not more, on the first Friday alone. As of right now, they are set up to have 12-15 volunteers and 3-4 VOA workers on site.

If you’d like to volunteer on either Friday, email Lindsay Donovan with any questions at [email protected] or 425-259-3191 x15017.
