UPDATE: Everett Fire responds to apartment fire on Casino Road

UPDATE, 12 p.m., May 15: At approximately 5:15 a.m. Thursday, the Everett Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at Shilo Village Apartments located at 1926 W Casino Rd.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire within a ground-level apartment’s bedroom, preventing further spread to adjacent units.

A working smoke alarm woke one of the residents, who alerted the other family members of the fire, allowing them to evacuate quickly Everett Fire said in a press release.

The decision to close the bedroom door where the fire was as they were evacuating played a critical role in containing the fire and limiting damage to the apartment.

There were no reported injuries; however, the Red Cross is assisting three adults who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Everett Fire Department urges residents to ensure their smoke alarms are functioning and to develop a fire escape plan that includes the practice of closing doors behind you when evacuating.

“Please take this message to heart: simple actions like closing your doors and having working smoke alarms can make a difference in fire safety, including saving your life, preventing injury, and limiting the damage a fire can do to your home,” Everett Fire said.

Firefighters responded to the Shilo Village Apartments around 5 a.m. on 1926 W Casino Rd. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. As of Thursday, May 15 no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
