
EVERETT, MAY 6: The Everett Fire Department responded to two unrelated fires Monday, May 5 2025 in south Everett.
The first fire occurred in the morning, around 8:30 a.m. A neighbor called 911 after smelling smoke and heard a smoke alarm from their ground-floor apartment at Woodhaven Apartments in South Forest Park.
When fire crews arrived, they found an apartment filled with smoke and an unresponsive male. Despite performing CPR and administrating life-saving measures, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Everett Fire.
Firefighters found a small fire in the bedroom and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby units.
The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire, while the Everett Police Department is investigating the fatality.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic incident,” Everett Fire said.
At 6:30 p.m. Everett Fire and more than 60 firefighters across south Snohomish County responded to a large storage facility fire.

The fire was located in unincorporated Everett at the 13000 block of 4th Ave W, west of I-5.
When crews arrived, they found heavy fire conditions, and the scene was escalated to 2-alarms requiring more resources and personnel. Everett Fire, Mukilteo, and Paine Field Airport helped South County extinguish the fire.
The fire burned through 13 storage bays that contained vehicles, and more than a dozen suffered heat damage. Crews managed to save an adjoining shop that contained flammable chemicals, according to South County Fire.
As of Monday, May 5 no injuries have been reported. Firefighters monitored the facility throughout the night to ensure there were no flare-ups.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
