EVERETT, OCT. 17: The Rotary Club of Everett honored three high school students as its students of the month on Oct. 15.

Each month during the school year the club recognizes and celebrates outstanding high school students in the city of Everett for their accomplishments and their promise.

Sequoia High, Gavin Bryson:

A dedicated music fan, Gavin plans to attend Northwest University in Kirkland and earn a degree in audio engineering, where he can be involved in the music industry. An audio engineer works with all of the mechanics of recording, mixing, and reproducing sound. Audio engineers aren’t the performers or producers of music or audio, but the experts who deal with the technical and mechanical aspects of sound. A guitar player and drummer, Gavin will use his audio engineering skills to give music the live sound he loves.

Everett High, Deborah Vasuilakeba:

As one of her teachers says, “Deborah leads with love.” As ASB President and President of the Pacific Islanders Club, Deborah is unwaveringly kind, accepting and positive. Her light shines bright and everyone near her wants to be closer to her. Her ASB Advisor says Deborah is the only ASB President in 15+ years whose peers spontaneously start clapping and cheering every time she is introduced. The students who surround her and work with her feel grateful to know her and PROUD to call her theirs, and they should.

Cascade High, Austyn Davis:

Her counselor said “I have seen Austyn grow and develop into an incredibly well-rounded student and all-around great person. She has been a big part of our music program, playing alto, soprano, and baritone saxophones in our marching band, jazz band, and wind ensemble. She has played basketball for us every year, as well as being in the National Honor Society, maintaining a 4.0 GPA with a very rigorous course load, working a job, and being an awesome big sister as well. She is truly outstanding.”
