Everett’s Planting Day is This Saturday, April 30, 2022Wed, April 27, 2022 by Marcee MaylinSHARE NOW HomeNorth Sound StoriesEverett’s Planting Day is This Saturday, April 30, 2022Downtown Everett Association’s Annual Planting Day is this Saturday, April 30th. The weather is looking beautiful. This is a wonderful event that can involve the whole family. Little ones love digging and getting their hands dirty, so bring the family. Each year, Everett’s city streets are lined with these wonderful, blooming planters, (266 of them). They cost about $60 each annually for care. You can help for free! Hoskins Nursery provides all the plants. All you need to do is show up at Wetmore Plaza, grab a flower flat and go design your planter. And…the planters are cleaned, weeded, prepped and ready for the fun part. Register to volunteer at Planting Day Registration for 10, 11, or noon check in times. There are many spots open. There are block captains this year to help guide you to your planter. If you have them, bring garden gloves, trowels etc., but not to fret, they will have some available along with compost bags.To add to the fun on Planting Day, Endurance Coffee Roasters is providing a pop-up at Wetmore Plaza! Endurance will be donating drip coffee for volunteers, and their espresso beverages will be available for purchase. There is also the Adopt-A-Planter program, where any individual, business, or organization can adopt a planter (or a few!). The DEA will hire a seasonal crew member to water; we just ask that you agree to weeding and deadheading your planter throughout the summer. For Downtown Planting Day Participants, you’re welcome to adopt a planter that you yourself planted! If able, donations allow us to keep the flowers (and our programs!) growing and thriving. If you would like to support our efforts to revitalize Downtown Everett, consider donating the cost of a planter or any amount, to the Downtown Everett Partners Spring Campaign. You can find more information about the Downtown Everett Partners and to donate.
