In a long-awaited move, the Evergreen branch of the Everett Public Library will be closed from Christmas Eve of this year at 3:00 pm, through “late 2019”
for renovations. All staff, programs and services will relocated to the main branch on Hoyt. See below for the full press release from the City of
Everett.

The Evergreen Branch of the Everett Public Library, located at 9512 Evergreen Way, will close to the public on Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. During the closure,
the library will be renovated and expanded and is expected to reopen to the public in late 2019.

At its Nov. 28 meeting, the Everett City Council approved the funding for the expansion project. Council awarded the construction contract to Faber
Construction Co., which submitted the lowest bid in a competitive process. Dykeman Architects is responsible for the library’s remodel and expansion
design. The overall project budget is $6.9 million, including design, construction, project costs, sales tax, and contingencies.

“The services our library offers are very important to our community’s quality of life,” said Mayor Cassie Franklin. “This long-awaited project will
help us serve more of our residents and families, especially in southern Everett, and offer them a better library experience.”

Evergreen Branch library customers are encouraged to use the Main Library, located at 2702 Hoyt Ave., during the branch closure. The last day for customers
to check out items or pick up held materials from the Evergreen Branch library will be on Dec. 24. After that time, any unclaimed holds will be
transferred to the Main Library for pickup.

The Evergreen Branch book drop will remain open until Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at 8 p.m. After that time, customers will need to return library materials
to the Main Library.

The Evergreen Branch library staff, programs, and services will transfer to the Main Library during the construction closure. Programs such as children’s
story times, adult film, craft, and Talk Time programs will be held at the Main Library. Everett Public Library staff will announce plans for outreach
activities and special programs in the Everett Branch’s service area as they are planned, in order to make library services accessible to customers
during the branch closure.

“Our Evergreen Branch is heavily used for its technology access and is a community anchor for residents,” said Abigail Cooley, library director. “In
addition to books and electronic resources, this renovation will allow us to provide transformative experiences and user-friendly spaces that make
a positive difference in the lives of our customers.”
