Do you know how many Farmers Markets there are in the North Sound area?  There are seven in Snohomish County, four in Island County and two in Skagit County, not including small produce stands that pop up now and then.

It is a great opportunity to get out of the house, breathe fresh air and have some fun.  They vary in size, but one thing they have in common is fresh produce, products and crafts from our local farmers and artisans who very much need our support right now.  And they are open. They operate on different days of the week and with varying hours, so check before you go.  The larger markets mainly are open on Saturdays.

To find a comprehensive list go to and select your county.  Most have their own websites, so visit those as well for more information on current events and protocols for each market.

They are all practicing social distancing, most with hand washing stands, and offering pre-order if you prefer curbside pickup.  Some are asking customers to not touch the food items and asking the vendors to assist.  Others are asking that you not handle products you are not planning on purchasing.  Please respect these requests for your protection and that of others.

The markets are working hard to maintain safe practices and a safe environment for everyone.  So do not fear and go support our local farmers and businesses. And do remember there is a statewide face mask mandate when out and about so do not forget to bring one along.  Also please leave Fido home for now and limit the shopping to one or two family members.  It is wonderful they are finding a way to let us enjoy this long-standing tradition of going to the market for fresh from the field items.
