EVERETT, JUNE 25: Float Find at the Port of Everett returns this July, offering three ways to find and keep one-of-a-kind glass floats made by local artists from the Schack Art Center.
The reimagined Float Find kicks off Friday, July 11 and continues through Friday, August 29. The eight-week-long treasure quest includes locally blown glass floats hidden around the Port of Everett’s Waterfront Place and Jetty Island destinations.
In total, 200 unique floats are up for grabs. Each Friday, 25 floats will be hidden: five shoreside at Waterfront Place and 20 beachside at Jetty Island. Float Finders also have a chance to win one of 50 additional floats at the Fresh Paint Arts Festival in downtown Everett August 16-17.
“Schack Art Center is thrilled to expand Float Find to the Port of Everett and Jetty Island in 2025, in partnership with our annual Fresh Paint festival,” Raedle Alburn, Schack Art Center Development and Education Director said. “Each hidden glass float is handmade by local artists in our public hot shop. This fun and free experience is just one of the many ways Schack shares the arts with our community.”
How it Works
There are three ways to seek out the glass floats during Float Find 2025:
1. SEEK SHORESIDE: Every Friday starting July 11 the Port will hide five clear Float Find balls around the waterfront and post one or more “clue drops” on Facebook, Instagram and the Float Find webpage. Following the clue(s), begin your search around the Port of Everett’s Waterfront Place. The clear balls will always be hidden within the Float Find boundary (see map) and within public spaces or around participating businesses in locations that are ADA-friendly. If you find an authentic clear ball with a Float Find ticket inside, take it to Hotel Indigo’s front desk to exchange it for your real blown glass float.
2. VOYAGE OUT BEACHSIDE: Every Friday starting July 11, City parks staff will hide 20 real glass floats around Jetty Island. No clue drops will be shared for this quest, but all floats will be hidden within the bounds of the Jetty Island Float Find boundary (see map). Boat out or snag a spot on the seasonal passenger ferry to Jetty Island for a chance to find a float (reservation required, book here). While it’s finders’ keepers, tags attached to the float will ask you to “check-in” your float online so that we know all are accounted for.
3. ATTEND SCHACK ART CENTER’S FRESH PAINT FESTIVAL: Explore and purchase art fresh off the easel during Schack Art Center’s summer arts festival in downtown Everett, August 16 – 17. When you arrive, grab a bingo card from Schack Art Center’s booth. Complete activities, view demonstrations and visit partners at the festival to get five in a row. Turn in your card at the Schack Art Center Booth for a chance to win one of 50 glass floats during the two-day bash.
