EVERETT, SEPT. 3: Arlington local Brittany Gross was nominated and selected as this month’s Hometown Hero, presented by Eden Health.

Hometown Hero is a new promotion from radio stations Everett’s Greatest Hits KRKO and Classic Country KXA. Each month the stations celebrates an individual making a difference in the community and gives them a $100 Visa gift as a small token of appreciation.

Gross is a nurse at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. She oversees patient safety and risk management and volunteers her time as a clinic manager and nurse at the Safe Harbor Free Clinic (SHFC) in Smokey Point.

Gross has been volunteering with SHFC for 2 and a half years, starting at the Stanwood location. She volunteers her time in Smokey Point at least two times a month, she said.

“I love the community and there are so many people who need help,” Gross said.

She has been working with Providence to partner with SHFC to share resources for underinsured individuals, she said.

Gross was nominated by her ex-husband Chris. She has a 9-year-old daughter who plays the piano and loves being artistic, Gross said.

She encourages the underinsured or those in need of free health care to check out SHFC.
