The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival kicks off this weekend on Saturday, April 1st and will run through April 30th. As usual the views of the fields are breathtaking. You must see them in person if you never have. They stretch on endlessly, across the valley and many growers.
Though already popping, they are a little late this year, but not to worry. The growers indicate the cooler than usual weather has allowed them more time to mature, meaning stronger plants, more vibrant colors, and larger blooms. Plan on a busy opening weekend and Easter weekend too.
As always it gets crazy up there. Allow time for traffic congestion, and be considerate not to block driveways when you park. If you are able, weekdays are desirable and offer less congestion. But no matter when you venture there, it’s beautiful among the flowers.
Detailed information is available at Tulip Festival. There you can find a downloadable map and brochure. Not enough time? Consider staying for a night or two. They also have information of lodging, demonstrations, crafts, and more. The charming town of La Conner offers antiques, shopping and food galore. Take a break ang give your feet a break as well while you grab a bite to eat.
See you there!
