J Matheson Gifts, Kitchen and Gourmet is celebrating 30 years in business with an open house this Friday and Saturday (April 23rd and 24th). Located at 2615 Colby Avenue in Everett, WA, their hours are 10am – 6pm. There will be drawings and gifts for all customers, as well as sales throughout the store. Also on Saturday, local artist Kay Kopp will have a jewelry trunk show between 10:30am and 4:00pm.

Judy was part owner of a pharmacy in Anchorage, AK, for 18 years that had an extensive gift shop. Guess who the buyer was for those products? It became her passion. After coming to Everett, she took a year off with her daughter, and realized the need for a great gift shop in Everett, and so it began. They have been in the same spot the entire 30 years.
She credits and thanks her family, as well as all her long-time customers for their tremendous support.
She is asked quite often how to get into this business. Her reply is always the same. Work in the industry. You need to become a good buyer and connect with all the various reps in the industry, many of whom will be there tomorrow and Saturday. She makes 14 buying trips a year.
