Tomorrow at 10:00 am, Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers, Washington State Senate Transportation Chair Marko Liias, and WSU Director of the Washington State University (WSU) Bioproducts, Sciences, and Engineering Lab Joshua Heyne will announce a partnership plan for a world-leading Research and Development Center for sustainable aviation fuels at Paine Field. The announcement will take place at Propeller Aero Services at Paine Field.
Expect many more details to follow later today. Following on the heels of the finalized Paine Field Master Plan, this will continue to add employment and expansion opportunities for Pine Field, Snohomish County and Everett. The Master Plan indicates much more airport passenger terminal travel in the next few years.
Even though Paine Field lost one Boeing plane operation, it was compensated with an additional 737-MAX line. Paine Field is perfectly located for a major North Sound air hub, serving the north counties without the grueling drive to SeaTac with its long runways able to accommodate big planes.
It will continue to establish the Pacific Northwest as aerospace innovators with production and research capabilities. The prospect of sustainable aviation fuels is exciting, opening up educational fields and careers.
We will update this story as details emerge.
