EVERETT July 1: The Port of Everett’s free outdoor movie series, Sail-in Cinema, offering family-friendly movies starts July 26 at Boxcar Park.
This is the 9th Annual Sail-in Cinema event hosted by the Port of Everett and takes place every Friday night from July 26 through Aug. 30. There will be six movies in total, presented on a 40-foot inflatable screen.
“This is a great free family-friendly event that we look forward to each year. You can’t beat the beautiful location of Boxcar Park, where each movie night is full of community spirit and the beauty of the waterfront,” Emma Leedy, Port’s Events & Outreach Coordinator, wrote in an email.
Movies featured are “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “The Parent Trap,” “Elemental” and more. “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was released in 2023 and is based on the classic video game by Nintendo. The Parent Trap is a family comedy movie from the late 90s that follows long-lost twins (Lindsay Lohan) who try to get their parents back together.
Boxcar Park will open one hour before showtime for viewers to settle into their spots on the grass. There will be music, yard games, and free popcorn for moviegoers.

8:45 p.m. Aug. 9: “The Parent Trap” (PG)
8:35 p.m. Aug. 16: “Devotion” (PG-13)
8:20 p.m. Aug. 23: “Elemental” (PG)
8:10 p.m. Aug. 30: “Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom” (PG-13)
Boaters are welcome to boat into the Port of Everett Marina and moor at any of the Port’s Guest Docks, available on a first-come, first-served basis or by reservation on DockWA. Limited viewing of the movies can be seen on North Guest Dock 7 but the Port encourages viewers to experience the movie from the park.
Viewers are encouraged to bring low-back chairs and picnic blankets. And a reminder that on the waterfront it does get chilly at night, so dress in layers.
In the event of inclement weather, a movie night may be canceled. Cancellations will be posted on the Port’s website and social media platforms.
