The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) is investigating a deputy-involved shooting, after a 29-year-old man charged at Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies during a domestic violence incident.

Deputies responded to an apartment complex, located at the 20000 block of Bothell Everett Highway, around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, with reports of a physical domestic violence situation. Upon arrival, deputies found a 29-year-old man barricaded in an apartment with a 56-year-old female being held against her will. There was also a child in the apartment at the time. After entering the apartment, one of the responding deputies deployed their Taser which was unsuccessful. The subject then reportedly charged at deputies with a weapon, and a second deputy at the scene discharged their firearm striking the suspect. The injured suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment and is expected to survive. No one else was seriously injured.

At this time, there is no information about the identity of the suspect and if there is any relationship between the suspect and the woman being held hostage. As is routine, the officers are also not yet identified and have been place on admistrative leave pending the investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation. SMART News Releases and public updates can be located on the Snohomish County SMART Investigations page. Updates will be provided when available.
