Does it seem like prices keep going up and up? Now Snohomish County PUD rate payers will be paying a bit more for their electric bills.
The Snohomish County PUD Board of Commissioners recently approved a rate increase of about 4.6 percent for all electric customers effective April 1st – no April Fools.
For multi-family residences such as apartments, the increase will be about $4 per month. For single-family homes, the rise in electric rates will be close to $6.40 per month.
For small business customers, the base charge rate increase will increase about 80 cents per day or around $24 per month. The ‘energy charge’ will actually drop with a range of about 0.635 to 8.365 cents per Kilowatt hour.
For water customers, those rates went up on March 1st. The average customer’s bill will rise about $5 per month and includes a pass-through rate increase from the City of Everett. For those who use a lot of water, the average increase will be about $6 per month.
The rate increases were driven primarily by increased costs from the significant weather events that the region experienced in 2024. More information about the rate increases is available by visiting snopud.com/rates/. The new electric rate book will be published April 1st on the electric rates page.
