EVERETT & MARYSVILLE, AUG. 6: From 9 a.m.-3 p.m. tomorrow, Aug. 7, southbound SR 529 will be reduced to one land at the Steamboat Slough Bridge.
State Route 529 is already down to one lane in each direction at the Snohomish River Bridge and will be until October. During tomorrow’s lane reduction, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews will perform electrical work.
This closure of the 97-year-old bridge is part of the project to preserve the Steamboat Slough Bridge and Snohomish River Bridge from corrosion damage. In 2022, 32,000 trips were made across the bridges daily.
The city of Everett and WSDOT encourage commuters to stay on I-5 through Everett instead of going through the city. Long delays have been reported on Broadway/SR 529 during afternoon rush hour. Fridays are seeing 60–90-minute delays and gridlocked city streets according to WSDOT.
