Sweater Weather is Better Weather; Fall Fun for Everyone

EVERETT, OCT. 2: It can be easy to mourn the end of summer as the warm sunny days pass, but there’s plenty of fun to be had in the fall! So, as we dive into October, here’s a roundup of just a few of the awesome local events from soothing to sporty to spooky 🎃

Things to Do

  • Everett Farmers Market
    • Every Sunday until October 27 from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wetmore between Hewitt and Pacific Avenue.
    • There’s still time to enjoy the wonderful produce, flowers, artisan gifts, baked goods and so much more each Sunday at the Everett Farmer’s Market in downtown Everett.
  • International Quilt & Fiber Arts Festival
    • October 4, 5 and 6 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center (2000 Hewitt Ave.)
      • Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    • Nothing says cozy like a quilt! Attendees can enjoy this quilt, fiber art and wearable artworks exhibition that features national and international artists. There will also be a marketplace, workshops and demonstrations throughout the event. For more information, visit qfamuseum.org. 
  • Judas Priest Concert 
    • See one of the greatest metal bands of all time at Angel of the Winds Arena on October 9 at 7:30 p.m.

  • The Run for Warmth 5K and 10K at the Snohomish River Run
    • 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in historic downtown Snohomish
    • The Snohomish River Run is back with Snohomish County PUD partnering with the Snohomish Running Company to help bring awareness and donations to Project Pride Charitable Organization. According to the Snohomish River Run website, Project Pride is a non-profit managed by PUD, which pays the electric bills for those who are unable to afford it. Registration is closed for 2024, but make sure to help cheer the runners on as they make their way along the Snohomish River!

Fall Family Favorites 

  • Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens Hosts: AutumnFest Family Fun
    • 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 19
    • This brand new event is open to all ages, with family-friendly activities. Create leaf luminaries and unique sedum pumpkin centerpieces, and plant spring-flowering bulbs. They suggest dressing for the weather and come prepared to have fun! Visit the Evergreen Arboretum website here for more details.

  • Downtown Everett Association Hosts: Downtown Trick-Or-Treating
    • Noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26
    • Trick-Or-Treating returns to the Wetmore Plaza in downtown Everett with an inflatable slide, face painting, games, and tons of candy! Sound like a boo-tiful time to us. Visit the candy route at the intersection of Wetmore Ave and California St. in downtown Everett to trick-or-treat at various local business and community partner booths.

  • Everett Mall Hosts: Trick-Or-Treating
    • 3-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31
    • For those of you looking for some candy on actual All Hallows Eve, Halloween Trick-Or-Treating at the Everett Mall is back and better than ever. Enjoy indoor Trick-or-Treating at storefronts and even find some special stops throughout the mall. But candy isn’t all the Everett Mall has to offer:
      • Meet the Wizard of Oz at Center Court in the Emerald City
      • Live performance by Evergreen Community Orchestra at 5 p.m.
      • Games and face painting
      • Bring non-perishable food donations for Volunteers of America Everett Food Bank.

For the Older Ghosts and Ghouls 

  • The 6th Annual Halloween Creeptacular @ Monte Showbar
    • 7-12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Monte Event Space in downtown Everett
    • Dance the night away at this adults-only Halloween costume party that touts, “…the ambiance is unmatched, the service top-notch, and the refreshments to die for!” Costumes are mandatory and there’s a $1,000 cash prize for the best of the best. Visit their ticket sales site for more info.
  • Nile Nightmares in Mountlake Terrace
    • Fridays and Saturdays 7-11 p.m., Sundays and Halloween Night from 7-10 p.m.
    • Now its 14th year of operation, Nile Nightmares transforms the Nile Shrine Golf Course into a sprawling series of haunts. This year, guests can expect several different themed haunted houses, both inside and outside, escape rooms, concessions, a tour through Ballinger Cemetery, and even a Family Fun Fest for those who a tamer version of the terrors.

  • Thomas Family Farm- Nightmare on 9
    • Open every day until October 27th (specific activities may follow a varying schedule)
    • Peruse the pumpkin patches nightly with the activities beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at midnight. When the sun goes down, zombie paintball begins and guests can face the haunted town of Rippers Hollow or the nightmare-inducing haunted house, the Vogel Institute. Escape rooms are offered on the weekends and private fire pits surrounded by corn are available to rent with tons of food and drinks available for purchase.
