At around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday December 4, 2021, Snohomish County Sheriff deputies responded to reports of a shooting taking place in the 8600 block of SR-92 in Granite Falls. Medics arrived on scene first and attempted life saving measures on the victim. The victim, a 1-year-old girl, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on scene. Detectives returned to the residence the following day to serve a search warrant, collect evidence and continue investigating. At that time, no arrests had been made. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate the incident.

Nearly 1 year later, and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives referred this case to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in November of 2022. Fast forward to January 18, 2024, charges were now filed against both parents, who were home at the time of the shooting. The 32-year-old man was charged with first-degree manslaughter with firearm domestic violence and unsafe storage of a firearm in the first-degree for domestic violence. The 26-year-old woman was charged with first-degree manslaughter with firearm, domestic violence, unlawful possession of a firearm in the first-degree, and unsafe storage of a firearm in the first-degree domestic violence. Arraignment will be on Tuesday, February 6.
