W Marine View Drive to Close 10 Days, Beginning Sept 17Thu, September 5, 2019 by Everett PostSHARE NOW HomeNorth Sound StoriesW Marine View Drive to Close 10 Days, Beginning Sept 17Beginning September 17, West Marine View Drive will be closed from 13th-18th streets, as part of preparation to place the Grand Avenue Park Bridge. The closure will occur where the bridge span was constructed and staged. The timing of the placement is completely dependent upon the Burlington Sante Fe Railway’s pending approval of a train-free window. As it stands, BNSF must calculate the decision to close based off of their own freight needs, and the window is subject to change. For now, the City is planning on the closure to continue, as is. Per Heather Griffin, the project manager for the City of Everett, “Now that we know the dates of the closure, we are doing our best to get the word out that you can still reach your waterfront destinations. We have a lot of helpful tools available on the City’s website to guide visitors to wherever they need to go.”During the closure, there will still be access to the waterfront. Follow the message and navigational signs to get around to where you need to be.Besides allowing pedestrian access to the waterfront from Grand Avenue Park, it will also carry sewage and drainage pipelines, replacing the deteriorating ones in current use down the bluff, where landslides and erosion make maintenance and inspection of the pipes a little dicey.Image courtesy of City of Everett
