Some consider it the best time on the sports calendar. While it’s “March Madness” in the collegiate ranks; there’s just as much “madness” on the hardwood at the high school level. This week starts the 2025 Boys & Girls State Basketball Tournament in the State of Washington. 48 teams will take to the court in three separate venues across the state. The big schools (4A & 3A) head to the Tacoma Dome; the medium-sized schools (2A & 1A) will meet at the Yakima County Sundome; the smaller schools (2B & 1B) take to the court at the Spokane Arena.
Here is the rundown for our local Snohomish County teams this week:
4A BOYS: Glacier Peak Grizzlies (21-3) vs. Arlington Eagles (19-7); Wednesday, 9:00 am at the Tacoma Dome (winner advances, loser out). ON THE RADIO: KRKO 1380 AM & FM 95.3; also streams at www.krko.com.
4A GIRLS: Lake Stevens Vikings (17-7) vs. Camas Papermakers (17-7); Wednesday, 5:30 pm at the Tacoma Dome (winner advances, loser out). Glacier Peak Grizzlies (19-7) vs. Union Titans (20-4); Wednesday, 7:15 pm at the Tacoma Dome (winner advances, loser out).
3A BOYS: Monroe Bearcats (22-3) vs. Mount Spokane Wildcats (17-8); Wednesday, 5:30 pm at the Tacoma Dome (winner advances, loser out)
Edmonds-Woodway Warriors (24-2) will play on Thursday at 3:45 pm against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Federal Way vs. Lincoln (Tacoma).
3A GIRLS: Meadowdale Mavericks (17-8) vs. Bellevue Wolverines (22-6); Wednesday, 2:00 pm at the Tacoma Dome (winner advances, loser out)
Stanwood Spartans (21-4) will play on Thursday at 9:00 am against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Garfield vs. White River.
2A BOYS: Lakewood Cougars (18-7) vs. Columbia River Rapids (19-5); Wednesday, 9:00 am at the Yakima Sundome (winner advances, loser out).
2A GIRLS: Archbishop Murphy Wildcats (23-2) will play on Thursday at 3:45 pm against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Eatonville vs. Prosser
1A BOYS: King’s Knights (18-5) vs. Bellevue Christian Vikings (19-5); Wednesday, 7:15 pm at the Yakima Sundome (winner advances, loser out)
1A GIRLS: King’s Knights (18-7) will play on Thursday at 9:00 am against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Wapato vs. Zillah.
1 B BOYS: Tulalip Heritage Hawks (20-4) vs. Summit Classical Christian (22-5); Wednesday, 3:45 pm at the Spokane Arena (winner advances, loser out)
