Congratulations to our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for March 2022, senior pitcher Alexis Slater of the Mariner Marauders softball team. Alexis has had a great start to this season with a 6-1 record and a 2.18 ERA in 45 innings pitched with 80 strikeouts and just 10 walks; she batted .600 with a .643 on base percentage. In the Covid-shortened 2021 season Slater had 89 1/3 innings pitched; sported a 0.71 ERA with 190 strikeouts and just 21 walks. She also batted .415 for the month. She was named the area Softball Player of the Year by The Everett Herald. Alexis is committed to play at Western Washington University next season. Softball coach at Mariner High School is Nathan Beachy.
