Our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for September 2024 is senior cross country runner Selena Bangerter of Jackson High School. Selena won the Western Conference 4A Championship for the third straight year with a time of 18:51 (5000 meters). She went to Orange County, California on September 21st and finished 3rd in her group with a three-mile time of 16:45 at the 43rd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic. Bangerter finished 6th at last year’s 4A Girls state championships in Pasco with a time of 18:37. She carries a 3.97 grade point average and is committed to running cross country at the University of Portland next year.
