
Our KRKO Russell & Hill Male Student Athlete of the Month for April 2022 is senior sprinter Trayce Hanks of the Lake Stevens Vikings Track & Field team. Trayce was part of the State Champion 4 x 100 meter relay team (time of 42.51) along with Grant Buckmiller, Hamid Sylla and Quinton Berry; also ran anchor of the Vikings’ State Champion 4 x 400 meter relay team (time of 3:20.69) along with Grant Buckmiller, Kaden Chidester and Hamid Sylla. The Lake Stevens Boys Track & Field Team won the Class 4A team title at the state meet in Tacoma. Hanks placed 2nd in State in the 400 meter dash; lost to Olympia’s Connor Johnson, both had identical 48.84 times. Head track coach at Lake Stevens High School is Jeff Page.
On the football side, Trayce was First Team All-Area on offense (WR) and defense (DB) on the football team that played in the state championship game in the fall. He recorded 1,248 yards from scrimmage and scored 17 total touchdowns (14 on offense; 2 on special teams and 1 on defense).
