Our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for April 2024 is senior Rachel Sysum of the Jackson High School Softball team. Rachel and her teammates won their second consecutive State 4A Softball Championship at the Columbia Playfield Softball Complex in Richland. In the two-day tournament, Jackson outscored their opponents 33-3. Sysum contributed with her bat, her glove and her arm all season for the Timberwolves in their run to a 25-2 record and the state title. She contributed 38 RBI, 39 runs, 14 doubles, nine home runs and 13 stolen bases. Rachel ended her high school career with a school record 31 total home runs. Sysum has committed to play softball at Fresno State University. Softball Coach at Jackson High School is Kyle Peacocke; athletic director is Michelle Renee.
