Our KRKO Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month for May 2025 is Ava Enriquez of the Shorewood High School Track & Field team. Ava recently won the Class 3A State Championship in the Pole Vault at the State 2A/3A/4A Track Meet at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma with a jump of 12’6”; one full foot higher than second place. Enriquez also won the event at the Oregon Relays and was named an All-American at the Nike Indoor Nationals held at The Armory in New York City. She will be attending The University of Hawaii at Manoa on an athletic scholarship for the pole vault. Track & Field Coaches at Shorewood are Joel Reese and Paul Villanueva; Athletic Director is Joann Fukuma; District Athletic Director is Don Dalziel.
