There may be a tax increase coming your way.  It deals with creating affordable housing for people in the Skagit County community and mental health issues. The Skagit County Board of Commissioners has chosen to extend public comment on the Proposed Ordinance Relating to Local Sales & Use Tax Authorized Under State House Bill 1590 until September 30, 2021. You can read the full bill at Skagit County Proposed Ordinance.  It is complex and complicated.

“We have decided to extend comment through the end of September. It’s important to us that the public have ample opportunity to provide input on this proposal,” said Commissioner Lisa Janicki.

To participate in this meeting and process you can do so in person or via mail.  Comments can be emailed to Skagit County Board of Commissioners, mailed or hand-delivered to 1800 Continental Place, Suite 100, Mount Vernon, WA 98273. All written comments must be received before 4:30 p.m. on September 30, 2021.
