Start your engines! The 2021 Memorial Weekend at Evergreen Speedway is back and ready to rumble. Traditionally, Memorial Weekend signals the beginning to the most beautiful time of the year in the Pacific Northwest. This year, the Speedway is holding multiple events to kick off the Summer season with racing on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday May 30.

Saturday’s events include the designated HCI STEEL BUILDINGS NASCAR Night with main events consisting of Outlaw Figure 8, Legends, Street Stocks, V8 Extremes, Boats, Buses and Vintage Mods.

Sunday’s activities consist of the NELSON MORORSPORTSW Sean Peters Memorial Truck Demo Derby and fireworks show. Enjoy a varied schedule of Legends, Hornets, Youth Hornets, Stinger 8, Mini Bump to Pass and Buses. The Speedway wants to remind fans that this is the only event of the year that has trucks doing the demo derby. Remember to grab a blanket and stick around after dark for the legendary Evergreen Speedway fireworks show to end the night.

According to the Speedways release, the Sunday event is dedicated to the memory of the late Sean R. Peters. Sean was only 23 years old when he and his friend Ryan L. Kenyon lost their lives in a car accident on February 3, 2013. The release states, “Sean had sights on a big career in racing and was a regular at the track where he planned to follow in the footsteps of his famous father, Steve. Known as “The Battlewagon” Steve Peters notched a hat trick of Xtreme Contact Championships in 1999, 2001 and 2002 before being crowned Evergreen Speedway F.E.A.R. Super Champion in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Steve then went on to lift the Stinger 8 title in 2010. Most notably, Steve was the Figure 8 National winner a record four times, in 1999, 2003, 2004 and 2006 and he also holds the fifth-mile track Demo Derby record of 15.923 set in 2002.”

With Covid regulations still in effect restricting the number of people who can be admitted to the arena, patrons are advised to buy tickets for this spectacular weekend in advance. The Speedway strongly advises fans to purchase tickets only from Evergreen Speedway and the eTix link on the track’s website. Pit Passes are available for $35 or $20 for a Youth Pass 13 and under with parental waiver. Adult tickets are $20 with Juniors 11-17 $12 and Youth aged 2-10 just $5.
