EVERETT, JULY 18: A 4-mile paving project on southbound Interstate 5 will close four lanes on various days throughout the summer starting this weekend.
On southbound I-5 between Broadway Ave. and 100th Street Southeast, four left lanes will be closed from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. nightly beginning Saturday, July 19.
People traveling southbound through Everett should expect to see delays for the next 14 weeks, according to the Washington State Dept. of Transportation.
Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., two lanes will open, with all lanes open by 5 a.m.
The Broadway to southbound I-5 HOV on-ramp will also close during this time, reopening at 6 a.m. weekdays.
WSDOT is still finalizing dates for additional land reductions and ramp closures and will announce them when they are set. The project is estimated to be completed by fall 2025.
This section of pavement is starting to show signs of deterioration and is due for paving to maintain a good state of repair, WSDOT said. This work will cost roughly $8.1 million in state and federal funds.
People travelling in the area should be prepared to slow down through the construction zone and may experience delays during this work.
