EVERETT, JULY 31: A male was found deceased after being struck and allegedly dragged by a vehicle on Casino Road early Sunday morning.
On the morning of Sunday, July 27, about 4:30 a.m. Everett Police Department (EPD) officers responded to the 8500 block of 7th Ave. SE, police said in a press release.
The call to dispatch reported a person laying on the side of the road. Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured male. Unfortunately, the male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Evidence at the scene led officers to conclude that the male was a pedestrian and was struck by a vehicle in the area of Casino Road and 5th Ave. W.
The vehicle continued to drive after hitting the man, resulting in the victim ending up further down the road, where he was found on 7th Ave. SE.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the male on the morning of the collision. They will be officially identifying the male and providing the cause of death.
Police have made a tentative identification of the male, and Police Chief John DeRousse has been in contact with the family to provide an update on the case.
On Tuesday, July 29, investigators identified the suspect vehicle and a potential driver. The suspect vehicle was impounded and processed for additional evidence.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are still under investigation, EPD said.
“This is a complicated incident, and a thorough investigation will take some time,” EPD said.
Once completed, it will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review. At this point, no charges have been filed.
The detectives were able to collect evidence from community members, video from surrounding businesses, and data from the department’s FLOCK camera system.
