EVERETT, AUG. 25: The Everett Boys and Girls Club handed out more than 2,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to local youth during their Back-to-School Backpack and School Supply Drive earlier this month.
The annual event was held to ensure students in need across Snohomish County start the school year prepared. More than 3,000 community members showed up Thursday, Aug. 14, at 2316 12th St.
“In addition to distributing filled backpacks, the event served as a powerful example of what can be achieved when a community unites around a common goal… supporting children, families, and educators in a spirit of generosity that will last well beyond the first day of school,” Everett Boys and Girls Club said in a press release.
The free event provided haircuts, face-painting, food, games and field activities. More than 20 community partners and organizations supported the event.
“The smiles, excitement, and gratitude we saw remind us why we do this every year — to give our kids the tools they need to dream big, learn fearlessly, and start the school year strong,” Everett Boys and Girls Club wrote on Facebook
