EVERETT, FEB. 20: Lunar New Year, a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of the new year on the lunisolar calendar, will be celebrated at the Port of Everett this weekend.
This year, the Lunar New Year began on Tuesday, Feb. 17, and kicked off a 15-day worldwide celebration.
The third annual event at the Port will include a lion dance performance by Northwest Kung Fu & Fitness. The performance will bring energy and vibrant colors beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Pacific Rim Plaza.
Additionally, the Everett Public Library will host Lunar New Year Storytime from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen branch, 9512 Evergreen Way.
The program will involve stories and crafts, and be delivered in Chinese, Vietnamese and English. This event is for families with young children.
Next week, the Asian Student Union (ASU) at Everett Community College (EvCC) will host their celebration. Open to the public, the event will feature food, crafts, photo booths, trivia and a lion dance.
Food and activities are free for students, and $5 for non-students.

Edmonds
For those looking to drive outside Everett, Edmonds is hosting two Lunar New Year events next week.
On Friday, join the Multicultural Association of Edmonds for a community story time hosted at 9:30 a.m. by the Edmonds Bookshop.
Then the next day, a full day of celebration, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in downtown Edmonds. Featuring a street market, vendors, games, activities, and performances at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
