Here’s Everything You Need to Know
First: Pledge to reset your preset HERE and qualify to win one of ten (10!) $96.90 cash prizes thanks to Abbey Van Dam Carpet and More.
Where is 101.1 FM going?
United States radio stations are licensed by the government, and this move is a requirement of that license.
Is AM 1520 moving?
No, AM 1520 stays at the same frequency.
Did you get sold?
Nobody bought us, this is a frequency move. Same station, same local ownership, new FM address on the dial!
Is this the same station or a different one?
Same station, same local personalities, same great country music spanning 6 decades!
Is this permanent or temporary?
Permanent. May 14th, 10am/Pacific is moving day and we’re not coming back to 101.1.
Is 96.9 available in my area?
If you had us on 101.1, you’ll have us on 96.9. If you’re having issues after the change, reach out by calling us at 425-304-1381 or email at [email protected]
Does 96.9 have the same signal strength as 101.1?
Same coverage area. Same reach. We didn’t go anywhere geographically.

Do I need to rescan my radio?
On some radios, yes. If 96.9 doesn’t show up, run a quick auto-scan and it’ll find us on May 14th.
My car radio has 101.1 saved as a preset. Do I need to change it?
Before May 14th, you won’t hear music on 96.9, but you can reset your preset at any time.
My car automatically scanned and saved stations. Will it find 96.9?
Run a fresh scan after May 14th at 10am and we’ll show up.
Are Mitchell & Moffett still on? Are the times the same?
Same shows, same times, and no schedule changes.
Does this impact KXAradio.com, the KXA app, or streaming?
There’s no impact on streaming and you do not need to redownload the app.
What about Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?
Those connect through the app or streaming, not the FM dial. If you use our app, nothing changes.
Can I still ask Alexa or Google to play you?
Yes. All you have to do is ask your smart device to play “Classic Country KXA” or “KKXA”.
I have you set as my alarm on my clock radio. Will it still work? Not automatically. After May 14th, retune to 96.9 and reset the alarm station. One time and you’re good.
My radio auto-scans at startup. Will it find you? Run a fresh scan after the 14th and 96.9 will be in the list.
My commercial or partnership with KXA says “101.1.” Do I need to record my spot or update the creative?
If the frequency is mentioned, yes. Reach out to your rep or call us at 425-304-1381 and we’ll get it handled fast.
Does this change impact your sister station KRKO?
This change only impacts 101.1 to 96.9 on KXA, KRKO stays the same.
On May 14th Specifically
What happens at the exact moment of the switch?
We’re having a party on the air! Listen for a unique Mitchell & Moffett show and reset your preset with us!
Will there be dead air?
We’re not planning any. The switch is designed to be seamless.
Will 101.1 just go silent?
After we move, 101.1 will go quiet.
Will both frequencies work for a while?
No. May 14th is a hard cutover. After that, 96.9 is the only place to find us.
What if I’m in the middle of listening during the switch?
If you’re on 101.1 when it happens, you’ll lose the signal. Just tune to 96.9 and pick right back up.
Is your website / social media / phone / text line changing?
None of it. Same website, same handles, same numbers. Everything stays exactly where it is.
