EVERETT, OCT. 4: Everett Utilities will hold its annual rain barrel sale next weekend.
You can purchase a ready-made barrel between 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Everett Public Works building, 3200 Cedar Street.
“Rain barrels continue to be extremely popular,” Apryl Hynes, Everett senior public education specialist said. “They are a simple and easy way to manage the effects of rainwater runoff by allowing you to direct the rainwater where you would like to use it most.”
Each 55-gallon barrel includes a spigot, overflow and double screen to keep debris and bugs at bay. A barrel costs $65 and is payable by cash or check.
For those who want to build their own barrel, the “Make it, Take it” workshop will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. The price is $50 and includes all the necessary parts. RSVP by calling 425-257-8992 or email [email protected].
Water conservation measures such as collecting rainwater can reduce the demand on personal wells or municipal and community water systems.
