EVERETT, AUG. 29: After being bought and a summer of cancelled shows, the Historic Everett Theatre is preparing to reopen with new performances scheduled this fall.
The lineup kicks off Friday, Sept. 26, with Taylor Made, a James Taylor tribute band and Haley Reinhard with the Davanos on Saturday, Sept. 27. Tickets and a full schedule are now available on their website.
The reopening follows a sweeping renovation by new owner Johnny Phan, a Bellevue real estate broker who took over late June. Upgrades include fresh paint, new carpets, and air conditioning, which came at the cost of canceling July and August programs.
The 17,300-square-foot, two-story building, which seats 800, was purchased by Curt and Craig Shriner for $261,500 after it went into foreclosure in 2014. For the past 11 years, brothers, along with the Historic Everett Theatre Preservation Society, have kept the landmark alive with tribute bands, comedians, and community events.
First opened in 1901 as a grand opera house, the theatre quickly became the cultural heart of Everett with vaudeville, roadshows, and early film screenings. It has endured fire, rebuilds, and changing trends in entertainment.
Now, more than a century later, its next act is set to begin.
