EVERETT, JUNE 16: Gay pride celebrations are about showing your true colors and Everett Pride will be showing off its collective colors in sumptuous sunshine Saturday afternoon for the Pride Block Party on Wetmore Avenue. Admission is free for the all ages event to honor Pride month.

“It should be a wonderfully bright and sunny day,” Everett Pride co-founder, Kevin Daniels tells EverettPost.com. “It should be full of fun and celebration. The weather is looking fantastic.” Pride Block Party starts at noon June 20 and runs until 6 p.m.

Amid the sunshine, Daniels says the crowd will be rocking the block, “We have live entertainment–everything from a multitude of local drag performers as well as live DJ and musical performance by local artists.” Daniels describes the scene, “We’ll have a large stage set up with all the performers, banners, everything set up for people to attend so they’ll be able to walk in listen to the music. We’ll have a beer garden too for those who want to partake as long as you’re 21+. We’ll have a whole host of resources locally, both in the city of Everett across the county and the state, and then different vendors too that have signed up.”

In addition to the performances, Daniels says Everett Pride Block Party will have over 100 different vendors–including food trucks to compliment the beer garden–at the event which stretches from Hewitt Avenue to Wall Street on Wetmore Avenue in front of the two Everett Municipal Buildings.

He says the community support is energizing, “the overwhelming support that people do to show up. Whether they are a sponsor, a business that wants to sponsor the event, or just one of the local vendors that wants to show their wares and support us. It’s wonderful to know. We’re always overwhelmed every year by how much people come out and help us out.”

Daniels helped co-found Everett Pride in 2022 and the annual Block Party enters its fourth year. Its coordinated by the board, Daniels says, which is always seeking new volunteers and contributors, “I would definitely say it does feel overwhelming. We always feel a great sense of accomplishment every time we are able to get the stage up and start getting the show going.”

If people want to contribute or volunteer to support Block Party, Daniels welcomes them whole heartedly saying, “if you go to our website, EverettPride.org, we have a volunteer tab (click here for the tab to volunteer) because you know, we can’t do it all alone. It takes a village to run these kind of things, so if anyone wants to go and volunteer, you can reach out and do so via the website or email us directly at [email protected]. We’re always looking for individuals if they want to help us out long term.”

Sunday June 21, Everett Pride hosts Diva Drag Brunch an age 21 and over show at Bayside Cafe, 2913 West Marine View Drive in Everett. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the event runs noon-2 p.m. Admission is required which includes breakfast and the show. Click here for tickets.
