EVERETT — Over 100 homeowners will participate in Everett’s Mother Of All Garage Sales being held Saturday, August 1 throughout the city’s Northwest neighborhood according to organizer, Kari Quaas.
Quaas tells EverettPost.com, “We had to order more yard signs due to the number of sign-ups.” Curious shoppers can find street maps with participating house locations at the Drew Nielsen Park gazebo at 1230 Colby Ave. and use that map to plan your MOAGS bargain hunting strategy. MOAGS was first held in 2009.
Two neighborhood businesses are joining MOAGS. Wheel and House at 1502 Rucker is open this year and participating in the garage sale. They have vintage items, food, drink and ice cream, according to Quaas. Bodega on Broadway at 1302 Broadway is another sponsor offering food, beverages and snacks for purchase between garage sale stops. Two food vendors, Road Dawgs and Kettle ‘n’ Pop, will sell snacks.
Quaas, the Northwest Neighborhood Association treasurer, says porta-potties will be available in several locations to accommodate the crowds during the day. Shoppers and drivers are reminded to bring cash for their transactions plus their patience and drive slowly through the neighborhood to keep all the extra foot-traffic and pedestrians safe.
If your bargain hunting tastes skew toward the theatrical, nearby Delta Neighborhood is hosting Shakespeare in the Park on Saturday, August 1, with a free performance of “Macbeth” at Wiggums Hollow Park, 2808 10th Street, in north Everett. You can tuck away your garage sale finds and head to Wiggums Hollow Park for the Shakespeare pre-show at 5 p.m., which features original live music performed by indie folk artist Mano Chando, with free hot dogs and popcorn served by the event’s sponsor, the Delta Neighborhood Association. The curtain on “Macbeth” falls at 6 p.m. Break a leg.
