MUKILTEO, JAN. 1: A hard landing by a Mukilteo ferry in 2022 damaged one of the wing walls used to guide ferries during docking. Despite initial repairs, more are required. These repairs will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and will continue through at least February.
The work will involve pausing ferry service for up to four hours on the crossing between Mukilteo and Clinton during non-commute hours.
Washington State Ferries (WSF) will do repair work on various weekdays beginning Tuesday. The last morning sailings on scheduled service days will be the 8:30 a.m. out of Clinton and the 9 a.m. out of Mukilteo. Service will resume with the 1 p.m. Clinton departure and 1:30 p.m. Mukilteo departure.
In addition to day closures, on select nights, the routes’ final round-trip will be canceled. The last sailings will be the 11:30 p.m. from Clinton and the 12:15 a.m. from Mukilteo, 10 minutes later than normal.
The repair work on the west wing wall is expected to extend into mid-February. Weather delays or marine wildlife could also alter the repair work schedule.
