EVERETT, DEC. 3: In the cold of winter, creativity blooms at Emily Marcantonio’s new art studio in downtown Everett.
Marcantonio, a long-time local artist, has been planning and building her business for years. But it was this year that everything “just started falling into place.”
Brush & Bloom, 1315 Hewitt Ave, is a creative art studio and event venue that offers workshops, private events, and crafting drop-in hours. Marcantonio’s mission is to make art accessible, welcoming and fun for everyone.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to have a place where people can come together and create things and have an experience,” Marcantonio said. “I’m hoping people can come here and feel inspired.”
Brush & Bloom had its soft opening the first week of December, with its grand opening scheduled for 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. The event will have mini crafts, a sign-up station for future workshops, and an official ribbon cutting.
Marcantonio hopes to offer an elevated experience at an affordable price, she said. Workshop prices can range from $70 to $150.
Upcoming workshops include a Christmas Wreath workshop, a step-by-step nutcracker paint class, a family Hanukkah night and much more. For the full list of events and classes, see Brush & Blooms website here.
When it comes to her own personal art journey, Marcantonio “likes everything and anything.”
“Personally, I like to do watercolor and acrylic on canvas, but I’m really excited to expand that into some of these workshops because I feel very creative,” Marcantonio said. “I’ve done a lot of different things, and I think that I’ll be able to offer some insight on different types of workshops…”
The art studio will offer drop-in hours 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, where guests pay a flat fee and can choose from three to four weekly rotating crafts.
When it comes to art and connection, Marcantonio said that now is the time to foster both.
“I think there is a need right now, especially with everything that’s going on in the world. People want to have a place to gather and connect and express themselves,” Marcantonio said.
